The San Diego Chargers have granted permission to Ken Whisenhunt and the Tennessee Titans to interview TE Coach Jason Michael for the offensive coordinator vacancy in Tennessee, per Michael Gehlken. Whisenhunt will be calling the plays, but Michael would be brought onto their staff as the offensive coordinator…. however that works.

Michael was a holdover from the Norv Turner coaching staff. He has coached with the Chargers for the last few seasons. He took over the position when Rob Chudzinski took the offensive coordinator position in Carolina. Whisenhunt won’t be able to bring any of the coaches over with him to Tennessee unless he is granted permission from the Chargers.

Chargers OL Coach Joe D’Alessandris should be staying put. There are a lot of people that are worried about losing a ton of the coaches, but Joe D and Frank Reich should be sticking around. Why would the Chargers allow them to interview?

With Ken Whisenhunt heading over to Tennessee, he likely will want to bring over some familiar faces with him. That is why Jason Michael’s name is coming up. We may lose a few guys on the coaching staff, but it would only happen if the Chargers allowed it. Maybe we just don’t mind losing some of these guys.
