Ken Whisenhunt will be heading to the Tennessee Titans to become their new head coach, one day after losing to the Denver Broncos in the playoffs. Less than 24 hours ago.
Whisenhunt has been credited for helping the Chargers offense flip things around this season and for getting Philip Rivers back to elite status. Whisenhunt has drawn a lot of criticism from Chargers fans for interviewing for multiple jobs during the preparation week against the Broncos and this quick hiring will not go well either. The Chargers offense was unable to get rolling on offense until later in the game against the Broncos and the team came out flat.
Now the search for the Chargers new offensive coordinator will begin. The Chargers could look toward QB Coach Frank Reich to call the plays or the team can look outside for a new offensive coordinator. Mike McCoy will have to find a new man to call the shots on offense next season. I think the favorite has to be Frank Reich at this time.
We all knew that Whisenhunt was going to be a 1-year rental. Now he will be coaching in Tennessee. That happened quick. VERY QUICK!
