The Denver Broncos have been an offensive juggernaut all season long. It has been well documented and many people have already placed them in the Super Bowl. They have a ton of weapons on offense and have the league’s MVP throwing the rock all around the field. In 14 games this season they have racked up over 400 offensive yards. They have only been held under the 400 yard mark twice this year. Just twice!
Guess which teams held them under that mark this season?
The San Diego Chargers and… the San Diego Chargers! Thank you Peter King for that golden nugget!
It can’t be a coincidence! If the Chargers were able to do it twice already and no other team was able to hold them under that mark this year, then there has to be something that we are doing that can hold them in check.
Now our defense is playing the best that it has all season. We will already be going in with some confidence knowing that we have held the Broncos to their lowest offensive marks all year. Mike McCoy knows the Broncos well. John Pagano has been part of this Chargers defensive staff for a long time and has seen the success we have had against Peyton Manning. He knows how to be successful against Peyton. The Chargers defense gives Peyton some problems.
The defense will have to march back onto the field in Denver against the Broncos on Sunday and hold them in check all over again. It will not be easy. They will need to get into Peyton’s head. They will need to prevent the big play. They will need to lock down that receiving unit. They have a lot on their plate, but they have a good gameplan and have shown that they can get it done.
