Time to look at another mock draft around the network. This time around we will be looking at the selection for the Chargers from NFL Mocks writer Erik Lambert.
Here is what Lambert did with the Chargers selection:
#19 – San Diego Chargers – Jace Amaro – TE – Texas Tech
Antonio Gates has been a model of consistency for the San Diego Chargers. However, the Pro Bowler turns 34 next year. The Bolts have to think about investing in the position and they have a terrific option in Jace Amaro who boasts size, speed and soft hands to become favorite target for Philip Rivers.
This definitely would be a pick out of left field for the Chargers. Amaro is a good player, but he is not in any position of need for the Chargers and there are better options for the Chargers to go after. The Chargers don’t need help at the tight end position at this point and the future at the position is already on the roster. Ladarius Green would be the starting tight end for the Chargers if Gates were to call it a career at the end of the year. Green is more than capable of contributing as a starter on this roster.
