The Chargers released their practice participation from yesterday. The list featured DNPs (Did Not Participate) Eddie Royal and Nick Hardwick. Royal has not been a regular participant in practice for a while now. But, Hardwick was absent for a “Not Injury Related” reason. As of now, there is now reason to believe that either will miss the Raiders game on Sunday.

The list also showed Ryan Mathews as a “Limited Participant” in practice. This is concerning for a few reasons. First, Mathews past injury troubles still make me jump to the worst conclusions. Second, the Raiders are 9th in the NFL in rushing yardage defense. Third, the Chargers will need Mathews to absorb all the carries to elongate drives. In that past two games, Mathews has rushed the ball almost 60 total times. As much as I love seeing Danny Woodhead rush and receive the ball, I fear giving him all of those carries will be a bad decision. We all remember how painful it was to watch Darren Sproles run between the tackles…

The rest of the players listed, Keenan Allen, DJ Fluker, Jarrett Johnson, Eric Weddle, and Shareece Wright were all listed as “Full Participants.”
