Another week, another loss. Wow, that phrase is getting old. No matter. The Chargers will not be able to succeed in the playoffs this year, even if they are only 1 game out of it.
That means, it’s officially time to start evaluating what talent we already have on the roster, and decide if they are worth the roster spot/ cap room they take up. One player who has really come on this year is Ryan Mathews. He just broke off his longest run of his career (51 yards) this weekend behind a struggling O-line. He is running with authority this year, something I didn’t even really see from him during his Pro-Bowl season. Ryan Mathews looks like a much improved keeper to me. Ernie recently wrote an article about where he has improved and what he still needs to improve upon.
On to the caption contest. There’s always a silver lining right? RIGHT? Yes. I know what your’e thinking. “Wait, is that LT?” No. But, the sideline stiffarm did send me back to the good ol’ days. Mathews looked like a beast on this run. I chose this picture because Mathews not only looks like he finally passed LT’s stiffarm 101 course, but because he also looks strikingly like Ed Smith (Heisman Trophy).
