Jarret Johnson is going to be back on the field and that should be a boost for the Chargers defense. The same defense that has not given up a touchdown in the last 11 quarters. We have been short on outside linebackers, but in his absence, other players were given the opportunity to shine.
Larry English has done a solid job on the outside. He hasn’t been spectacular, but he has gotten his job done. Thomas Keiser has stepped in huge with his opportunity against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He showed that potential in the preseason and he has brought that pass rushing ability with him when he was called up. He is hungry to make plays and to get after the quarterback.
I still would love a lot more depth at the position and that might come in December with Melvin Ingram, but having Jarret Johnson back in uniform should be a bit of a boost for the defense and the team. The guys have been solid out there, but the tests are going to become more difficult as the season goes on. We will need all of our playmakers in the lineup when we face some of those potent offenses.
