If Melvin Ingram is going to get back on the field with the San Diego Chargers this season, it will be on the back end of the window that he is allowed via the PUP list designation. The last day the Chargers would be able to decide would be on November 20th. He either gets on the practice field on the 20th or the team has to place him on the IR.
I don’t know if he is going to be ready to get back onto the field by that time, but he would be a huge boost to the defense. He would be a huge boost IF he is at 100%. He is not going to be at full strength when he gets back on the field this season. We just need to make sure that when he does get back on the field, he won’t risk further injuring that knee.
I can’t wait to see Melvin back on the field and I would love to see him back out there this season, but if he is not ready, we can’t rush him. It sounds like the team will make sure that he passes a series of tests before they allow him to get back on the football field. Smart move. I hope he passes and hope he is chasing down quarterbacks in no time.
