The San Diego Chargers still need depth on the defensive side of the football. There have been a couple of young defensive linebackers that have been released in the last couple of days that should perk the interest of Tom Telesco. I already wrote about former Houston Texans LB Sam Montgomery the other day. This post will be about former New Orleans Saints LB Martez Wilson.
Wilson was just let go by the Saints in order to make room for another quarterback on their roster. He is an athletic linebacker that played with Corey Liuget in college. He was selected by the Saints in the 3rd round of the draft and could add some depth to the linebacker group. He can play in a multiple different spots for the defense. He has played as a middle linebacker and he also has experience getting after the quarterback off of the edge. He could be used in all kinds of different areas for our defense.
This could be one of those chances for Tom Telesco to add another piece to the defensive side of the football. He could cut Bront Bird and help develop Wilson on defense with the rest of the guys.
