San Diego Chargers LB Melvin Ingram is eligible to step onto the practice field now after waiting for 6 weeks. He still is not ready to get out there, but he has been putting in work. It has been less than 5 months since he tore up his left knee in practice, but he is making strides. He wants to get back on the field. He expects to get back on the field this season.

The Chargers could use a boost at outside linebacker. They have already lose Dwight Freeney for the season and on Monday the Chargers had to start Larry English and 5th round draft pick Tourek Williams on the outside. Jarret Johnson is recovering from a hamstring injury and will get back out there, but he could use some help.

Melvin Ingram was selected by the Chargers in the first round last season to help the defensive pass rush. He can get pressure on quarterbacks and would be a huge addition to the defense. We still have no timetable on his return and we are unsure how he will look if he returns this season.

I can’t wait to see Melvin back on the field, but I want to make sure that he is ready to go all out when he gets back to the field.
