The Chargers have to be aware of Indianapolis Colts LB Robert Mathis coming off of the edge on defense. Mathis came into the week as the league leader in sacks and he will be up against rookie D.J. Fluker for most of the day. Fluker has had some issues with speed rushers and may need a little help from his running back and tight end tonight to help slow Mathis down.

Fluker has done an excellent job in the passing game for the Chargers though. Today will be a big time test. Philip Rivers has been doing a good job of getting rid of the football quickly and that will be key for the Chargers on offense.

If the Chargers could establish some sort of a running game, it would give Philip a little extra time for those deep play action passes. Mathis will win his share of battles. We just don’t want him to take over the game and have his name mentioned throughout the night. We don’t need to see him trending on twitter or anything.

Slowing down Robert Mathis will be key for the Chargers offense. The offense has done well this season, but this will be one of the tougher opponents for the Chargers this season. We did deal with J.J. Watt to start the year and had a solid half against him. We need a whole 4 quarters of awesome in order for us to beat the Colts.
