San Diego Chargers LB Donald Butler was on the sideline for practice on Friday. The Chargers already are thin at linebacker with Jarret Johnson on the sideline. Coach Mike McCoy says that Butler’s groin injury has flared up and had to take some time out. I would hate for the Chargers to be without Butler for the game. They have Manti Te’o back in the middle now, but it would be a struggle without Butler there with him. It already is a struggle with both on the field at the same time.
Butler has not had the best season this year, but he is better than any other option that we have on the roster. Some players need to step up and start making plays on defense. We have forced 2 turnovers on defense. Our one interception on defense has come from our defensive tackle. Something is wrong there. Butler forced one of those turnovers by forcing a fumble against the Dallas Cowboys. We need some other players to make some of those plays.
