Manti Te’o is getting his first start of his career and will be on stage in front of America’s team. There are big expectations for our 2nd round draft pick. Some fans have already been saying his name in such a manner to rhyme with a former Chargers linebacker that used to wear the number 55. That is a lot of expectations to put on a man.

He is not going to go on the field and be Junior Seau. Everyone has to be their own man. Manti Te’o needs to play his game. He needs to keep putting in work and keep studying to be the best linebacker that he can be.

It will be his football instincts that carry Te’o. In college, he was able to read the offense and understand what they were trying to do. He always had been a step ahead on defense and will need to be a step ahead on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys have a good running game and a good quarterback. DeMarco Murray and Tony Romo can do great things at their positions. We are going to need players on the defense to make some big time plays on Sunday. Hopefully Manti Te’o can get in on the mix and live up to expectations.

He will have his struggles. All rookies do. We just need him to counter some of those mistakes with a few plays that show that potential.
