The depth at nose tackle behind Cam Thomas is extremely shallow. Since camp opened, the competition to secure the backup slot has between Georgia NT Kwame Geathers and South Carolina’s Byron Jerideau. So far Geathers has been winning the battle, notching two tackles and a sack in the last weeks game. Meanwhile, Jerideau failed to register a defensive stat. Finding a suitable backup for Thomas is crucial and the Chargers need a nose tackle that can step and make plays.
