The Minnesota Vikings release CB Jacob Lacey today and the Chargers must have their ears perk up on that release. The Chargers are scouring through the waiver wire in hopes of adding depth all across the roster. We definitely need some help in the secondary. We lost rookie 5th round pick Steve Williams already and were likely in the market to add some help in the department before that injury.
GM Tom Telesco should already be familiar with Lacey. The Colts brought in Lacey as an undrafted free agent in 2009 and he started a few games for them. He has started 36 games total in his career.
The Chargers have Derek Cox, Shareece Wright and Johnny Patrick on the roster as the teams corners. Marcus Gilchrist can also play corner, but he likely will be the starting the season as the team’s strong safety. We will need to add some depth across the roster. The guys will be watching all the cuts that will be coming through and will likely add a few new pieces in the next few weeks.
