The San Diego Chargers can’t stay away from the injury bug. During Thursday’s game against the Chicago Bears, rookie 5th round draft pick CB Steve Williams tore his pectoral muscle and is expected to miss the season. Williams was expected to provide depth for the Chargers in the secondary. The depth there was already thin and now we lost a talented young player.
The Chargers have Derek Cox and Shareece Wright as the starters. Johnny Patrick would come in as the nickel. Patrick suffered a jaw injury in Thursday’s game, but it seems that he will be able to return without much of a problem.
The Chargers will have to find more depth at the position. This will give rookie Marcus Cromartie a chance to make the roster. We just can’t seem to stay away from that stupid injury bug.
In some good news, WR Malcom Floyd was working on the side field and catching passes. Really good news for the offense.
