Eddie Royal has been tearing it up. He is the hype around training camp again. He was the hype in minicamp last season, but he kept showing up on the injury report during the season. That will be our biggest fear with Eddie Royal this coming season.
He can be a weapon in Ken Whisenhunt’s offense. He has the ability to make people miss after the catch. He is dangerous with the football in his hands. The short passing game plays in Royal’s favor. I love that he is showing off the potential in camp, but we need him to do some things on the in games.
Royal has an advantage over the other receivers to take a roster spot. He is a punt returner and a kick returner. He is able to fill those roles and can be a good option on offense.
The roster already has Danario Alexander, Vincent Brown, Keenan Allen and Malcom Floyd locked in. Royal would be a different type of threat on offense. He doesn’t have the size of the other receivers, but he has the quickness to make things happen in the slot.
Royal fits the offense really well and he would be our return specialist. I think he will break camp on the roster…. unless he gets traded. And that could actually be an option.
