I have been saying this for a while now, but my favorite draft pick this season is Keenan Allen. It might take him some time to climb up the depth chart, but once he gets onto the football field, he is going to be a huge playmaker for us. Our boy Arnie witnessed it during training camp and took notice of his ability to leave corners in the dust after the catch. He is smooth in his routes and I have no doubts that he will be a stud in this league.

“I take pride in the way I run out there,” he said. “In college I really worked hard at it, trying to be smooth and at the end being abrupt. It really is just trying to do whatever you can to make every route look the same to the defender and keep him off balance. That’s why I think it’s important to be smooth.”

With Philip Rivers throwing him the ball, he will get plenty of opportunities. Allen didn’t have the greatest quarterback in college, but still was outstanding. Having a pro bowler tossing him the rock on Sunday’s will make him a star.

“He throws an amazing ball,” he said. “The guy is great. He’s an accurate passer. He’s the most accurate passer I’ve ever been with. Obviously he’s a smart guy. He knows all the coverages. He knows all the plays. He puts you in the right place. He’s a great guy.”

I am excited to see Allen in the preseason. Once he gets on the field in the regular season, he will make it difficult for the coaches to take him out. It will be fun to watch.
