The San Diego Chargers had an open roster spot after placing Jonas Mouton on the IR and we decided to add more secondary help with the opening. The Chargers signed former Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback William Middleton to the roster.

Middleton joined camp today and will compete for a job in the secondary. There is plenty of room to make a roster spot at the moment. Shareece Wright and Derek Cox are the starters and Johnny Patrick has been the main backup. After Patrick is the rookie Steve Williams and the roster is wide open after that. There is not much experience in the secondary and Middleton would have that advantage over the other guys competing for a spot. Middleton also is a good special teams player and has some experience at safety.

There is something about his name that makes me think of royalty.
