Impressions On First Day Of Chargers Training Camp

Here are some notes from one of our Bolt Beat faithful followers Arnie.
I was there. first impressions
Eddie Royal caught EVERYTHING, except 1 ball CBJ (Clipboard Jesus) threw behind him. DX (Danario Alexander) is the clear #1 WR. VB (Vincent Brown) is a play maker. Malcolm made some amazing catches. Richard Goodman should be good 4 possibly 3. The rookie Keenan Allen looked well like a rookie. Robert Meachem……. looked overpaid.
The offense I did not recognize it, with all the quick slants and 3 WR sets, it was amazing how easily the offense moved the ball. Philip Rivers passing from under center in no huddle, 3 an 5 step drops? WT…? Danny Woodhead, Fozzy Whittaker, Michael Hill, these guys can ball. Ryan Mathews fumbled, then picked it up and did not do so the rest of the practice. Chris Gronkowski, do not sleep on 44 he could take Ronnie Brown or LeRon McClain’s spot. Antonio Gates looked like the “HEALTHY” 8 time pro-bowler that he is. it was also good to see him going through “blocking drills”, and doing it well.
King Dunlap, STUFFED EVERYONE, including Dwight Freeney. Jeromey Clary was impressive. DJ Fluker was a monster, and let Freeney know it as well, by putting him on the ground. the O-line, MUCH improved.
Manti Te’o, was focused and always where the play was. He covered and clogged up holes in the run. 4.89 my foot, he can play. Donald Butler, yeah the Butler did it all day. Freeney didn’t look like he’s been playing for 12 seasons, I guess he’s going to get re-acquainted with an old friend in Denver. Shareece Wright, that side of the field is covered. He proved it by making WR drop balls including Floyd. Jahleel Addae? Brandon Taylor had better make a quick recovery, for a rookie Eric Weddle didn’t have to do much. Cam Thomas, Kendall Reyes, Corey Liuget, I wouldn’t worry about those positions anymore. Byron Jerideau? Kwame Geathers? i wouldn’t worry about depth either. those kids are MASSIVE and forced CBJ to run for his life a few times.
well.. that’s all i can think of…
