Dwight Freeney Banner Replaced In Indianapolis

Dwight Freeney was one of the faces of the Indianapolis Colts franchise, but now that he has signed a deal with our San Diego Chargers, his picture had to be replaced with someone else’s on Lucas Oil Stadium. To replace Freeney on Lucas Oil is kicker Adam Vinatieri.

I am not sure why, but I almost feel that it is an insult to replace Freeney’s photo with a kicker. Vinatieri is one of the most clutch kickers in history and he also helped bring a championship to the Colts, but this is Dwight Freeney. We are getting him on the tail end of his career, but what an awesome career it was. Everyone has to be replaced at some point and the new guy on the wall is the kicker. Maybe Freeney can do well enough in San Diego to warrant a huge photograph in the crappy walls of Qualcomm Stadium. That would be some kind of nice.
