Three practices. That is all Jared Gaither has attended since the season started. Two of those practices were limited and the latest practice was finally a full go.

Now Jared Gaither is “preparing to play” on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. Can Jared Gaither even be affective returning back to the football field that soon? Is he a better option than rookie Mike Harris?

Gaither flipped his tune real fast. He went from a candidate to be released or placed on the IR, to getting onto the football field and possibly playing some football. When he first signed by the Chargers, he was brought in on a Wednesday and played in a Monday Night Football game.

Could he make the same dramatic turnaround as the referees did?

He knows Kansas City well. He was on their roster last season and was 2nd string on the depth chart. He was released by Coach Todd Haley after a false start penalty that costed the Chiefs a game.

Maybe facing his former team was the motivation he needed to play again. There has been talk that he was a player that liked to show up on Sundays but didn’t really care too much about practice. If he goes on Sunday, then it sure strengthens that theory.

Not sure if he would have the stamina to play a whole football game, but he still seems like a better option than Mike Harris. If he plays, Norv wants him to be in there for the whole game.

If he could only give me a half of football, then I would take that half! I will take whatever he has to offer. If Gaither thinks that he is ready, then let’s rock out with him at left tackle.
