Sunday is the San Diego Chargers home opener.  It will be an extra emotional day because not only is it our first game of the season, but Junior Seau’s number will be retired.  Fans are asked to wear white Chargers gear to the game. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could rack up our 8th win in a row against the Titans in honor of Junior?

Mathews and Gaither will still be on the sidelines.  Fortunately, we got a glimpse of what Gates, Royal, Meachem and Floyd can dish out.   I think the passing game will be the key to the win.  An improvement is needed from the 24 completions for 231 yards and a touchdown in Oakland.  I would expect those numbers to be close to doubled and three or more touchdowns.  Look for Gates to be showing up in a big way.  If his ribs are still bugging him, expect Meachem to be racking up the yards.

Last week Philip Rivers did not throw a single INT.  That stat alone gave me great hope for our potential this season.  On the Titans side of the ball, the quarterback situation is a little tenuous.  Locker is questionable after hurting his left shoulder last Sunday. Before that, Locker completed 23 of 32 for 229 yards with a TD and an INT in his first NFL start.  If he is not up for the task we will see Hasselbeck this week.  I expect our defense to be all over which ever QB is taking the snaps.

The Chargers have won four straight at home over the Titans and are undefeated in this series since 1992.  Look for Sunday to continue the streak in a big way.  If Keading kicks more than two field goals I would be shocked.  It’s going to be a big game for the offense, I feel it in my blue bones.  ?

Boltup and enjoy the game!
