The Chargers defense will not have to worry about covering TE Jason Witten on Saturday. Witten injured his SPLEEN in the first preseason game against the Oakland Raiders.
He is going to need surgery and will be out for the rest of the preseason.
UPDATE: The spleen did not rupture and surgery is not required. He still is expected to miss the whole preseason
That just gives Melvin Ingram and the boys one less playmaker to worry about in coverage and they can zero in on Tony Romo. Romo should be seeing the grass a lot on Saturday!
I’m not a doctor, but it appears to me that the last thing one needs exactly 3 weeks before an opening game is a bleeding spleen.
