Football Food Friday

Hey Boltheads.  Welcome to my new weekly about our favorite football foods.  Whether it’s superstition, tradition or trying something new, each Friday I will attempt to inspire you with food and drink that go great with football.

Feel free to submit ideas and I will do my best to come up with something that will make your stomach growl with anticipation.  It’s time to start gearing up for some football!

This week, we are talking about the one thing you absolutely cannot go without on football day – guacamole.  Since a lot of us are here in sunny San Diego it is easy to have guacamole year round, and we do.  That said, here is my super easy and very yummy recipe for guacamole.  Make it and enjoy!

Recipe:  Yummy Guacamole (this will feed up to four moderately ravenous football fans)

What you need:  Tortilla chips, 5-6 avocados (peeled and halved), 1 tomato, 1/2 white onion, 1/3 cup cilantro, 1 lime, 1/4 tsp garlic, salt and pepper.

What you do:  Finely chop cilantro, tomatoes and onions.  In a medium bowl add a little salt and pepper (you will add more later too), avocado halves and juice from your lime.  Tip: To get the most juice grill your lime halves a little.  Using two big spoons smash ingredients, every few smashes fold in some of your onions.  When the guacamole is almost to your desired consistency fold in the cilantro and tomatoes.  Add garlic, salt and pepper to taste!  Tip: Put an avocado pit on top to keep it fresh.
