The Chargers picked up offensive tackle Phil Trautwein to compete in training camp for a backup position (Elite Spots Agency). He was picked up as an undrafted free agent in 2009 by the St. Louis Rams and has since been on the Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints roster. He played college ball under Urban Meyer with the Florida Gators and he only has 4 career games under his belt.
The leading candidate for the Chargers backup tackle job is Mario Henderson and he wasn’t even in the league last season.
