I remember the first time I saw Junior Seau. He was checking out the gym I was working at and I was in awe. He was not a San Diego Charger yet, he was still at USC, but I knew I was in the presence of an impact player and a nice guy.
Shortly after, he was drafted by the Chargers and I saved up and went out and bought my first jersey. Number 55, Seau. I still have that jersey, it hangs on the wall in our pool room and I will never be able to look at it again without getting tears in my eyes.
I will forever love defense and the excitement of the big hit thanks to him and he will forever be a San Diego Charger in my heart. Visions of him standing on the sideline, waving his towel, getting the crowd excited.
When I heard he took his own life today I was in total shock. All of San Diego is in shock. He was loved by so many and will be missed by our community.
RIP Junior.
