Morning Dump… DRAFT DAY!!!!
Nick Hardwick remembers being confused by the call. What he heard was that he was being welcomed to the San Diego Chargers. But what the television was telling him was that the team had selected Nate Kaeding, the kicker from Iowa.
For the San Diego Chargers, the three-day NFL draft that starts Thursday night could be about much more than simply helping to restock a once-powerful team that has fallen back to the pack.
Apr 25, 2012 – The San Diego Chargers are a solid team but they may not take the jump to elite until they can find a pass rusher to harass the quarterback. They’ve been trying to replace Shawne Merriman for a number of years but so far no on ehas stood out. SB Nation’s Chargers blog, Bolts From The Blue, addressed the Chargers needs entering the NFL draft this weekend.
Getting players that we actually know of and that can cause an impact. As Bolts fans, we get stoked for the draft and then when it comes to our turn to select, we all hold our breath and hope that AJ selects a certain player. Then he usually goes in a different direction and we all curse the new player that we just selected, because we are all obviously smarter than AJ.
SAN DIEGO – Steve Caves walked into Chargers Park on Wednesday to a confetti explosion, a chorus of applause, Charger Girls and most of the front office waiting to shake his hand.
On a related note, the Chargers are throwing a draft party for the first round tomorrow night. The festivities start at 5pm at the team store, located at Gate G at Qualcomm Stadium (I miss Snapdragon Stadium already) and continue until 8pm. Beer will be $3 and hot dogs will be $2, which means this is your only chance to ever visit The Q and walk out with your wallet intact.
