Five national TV games, bookends against Oakland, and a mid-October home matchup with Peyton Manning and Denver highlight the Chargers’ 53rd regular-season schedule.

The NFL released its 2012 schedule Tuesday giving fans their first chance to visualize exactly how the season will look, up until the playoffs of course.

If they miss the playoffs for a third straight season, the Chargers will likely make wholesale changes. General manager A.J. Smith and coach Norv Turner will likely be sent packing, something many expected would happen after last season.

You might remember that Doug Flutie spent four seasons as the QB of the San Diego Chargers. Those weren’t exactly memorable years for Doug as he went 8-14 and had his final NFL start in 2004. Flash-forward eight years and another Flutie is hoping to erase the bad memories in southern California. Alexa Flutie (attended La Jolla High) is returning to her one-time home where she participated over the weekend to become a Chargers Girl.
