Does anyone know what the most important position is on a 3-4 defense? It’s the nose tackle. It is where everything starts on the defense we run. You need a guy with long arms, big boy strength (legs and arms), and the wall mentality. Antonio is a player who plays hard and knows how to dig in. Antonio Garay is everything like that and more.

Garay had an amazing year in 2010. He may have been with us a year earlier, but 2010 is when Garay really excelled recording 48 total tackles (37 solo) and 5.5 sacks. Garay’s play also can be judged by what he does on the field. Consistently he is breaking opposing offensive lines’ walls down and allowing middle linebackers to run free and fulfill their job. Even though his sacks dropped, his tackles increased by almost 10. Another positive about this signing is we can develop Cam Thomas more, and not rush him. With both these guys manning the middle, San Diego has a huge edge, the Chargers will ALWAYS have a fresh big man in ready to go.

Garay has done great things for the Chargers on the field. To get a player of his caliber for another 2 years is a blessing. From the crazy hair, to the intense persistent play on the field, Garay could state a case for Pro Bowl this year. The man was certainly snubbed 2010. Garay has given us another reason to be excited for the upcoming season. To see his awesome hair!

P.S.- Sorry it’s a little late everyone, but I was having some trouble with my internet. Plus  we always show love for big boys that work hard on the inside!
