Steve Hutchinson Available If We Want Him

Tim Fuller-US PRESSWIRE
Yesterday, the Minnesota Vikings released 7-time Pro Bowl guard Steve Hutchinson. With the retirement of Kris Dielman, the Chargers need some depth at the position and someone to compete with Tyronne Green for the starting left guard spot. Hutch could be that guy.
With very little depth on the offensive line, we should consider bringing him in. Hutchinson has ended the last couple of seasons on the injured reserve, so his health is a question mark. He could be used to fill the position for a couple of seasons.
We could also use our first round draft pick on David DeCastro out of Stanford to fill the spot. We normally don’t draft offensive lineman in the first round though. Offensive line is one of our highest priorities this season and AJ Smith always seems to surprise us come draft time.
