As we ended the football season, there were a few players on our offensive line that were questionable for the upcoming season. Marcus McNeill, Kris Dielman and Nick Hardwick all were up in the air with their careers. Yesterday, Hardwick told the UT San Diego that he will be back next season:

I feel great. I’ve been training my butt off since then. I’m ready to have my best season yet

So Hardwick will be playing next season, but now the question is: will it be for the San Diego Chargers? He is set to become a free agent in a few weeks and there should be a few teams that want to bring him in. We will see if the Chargers will make the move to keep him around. He will be one of the best centers available in free agency.

He is hoping to stay in the blue and gold:

I obviously have a lot of best friends in that building, including on the coaching staff. I’d certainly like (to stay). I hope I’m in their plans. If not, we’re ready to go on.

In my opinion, Hardwick has to be one of the top priorities for the Bolts to bring back this offseason. We need to protect Philip Rivers up front and Hardwick will give us the best opportunity to do that. There are all kinds of question marks on the front line, but he has been rock solid every season.

Hardwick is 30 years old and will be entering in his 9th season and still should have plenty of good seasons left in his body. We need to bring him back and figure out who else will be playing along side him up front. Will it be Jared Gaither and Kris Dielman? Only time will tell.
