LT thinks it isn’t easy being green
I have seen LT unhappy on the sidelines before. Even when he was a Charger he had his run ins with Norv “the turnip” Turner. But with the Jets, he feels free to let the media know the truth about how he is feeling. In his latest interview on Showtime’s “Inside The NFL,” Tomlinson said he liked playing for Rex Ryan but he thinks he needs to shut up.
“I would prefer him not to say it as much as he did,” Tomlinson said, according to the New York Daily News. “I don’t mind every now and again saying we are going to win a championship. Maybe at the beginning of the year just saying, ‘Hey, our goal is to win a championship.’
“But at the same time, every week if you are calling out a team on certain things, I think it puts a little extra on your team,” Tomlinson added. “Guys really want to go out there and say, ‘Let’s shut this guy up. Let’s shut these Jets up, just end their season.’ ” Well, I know that is how we felt. It was all about getting the win against Rex Ryan because he was mouthing off about the Chargers. Of course, we lost adding fuel to his fire.
Tomlinson also talked about Mark Sanchez, saying he is “a bit pampered because he has no competition.” Tomlinson said the Jets’ locker-room attitude, created by Ryan and general manager Mike Tannenbaum’s “in-your-face” approach, was “as bad as I’ve ever been around, honestly.” I am sure LT was used to Turners bumble bee approach of creating a locker room attitude, the ignore them and they will go away approach is much easier to handle than “in-your-face” if you ask me.
LT is not the kind of guy who will get in someones face, he is laid back and that is what made him a great San Diego Charger. Now, LT is considering retirement at 32. While he is perfectly healthy. That says something about the Jets. He would rather retire than go back.
I would not look for LT in green come August. He will either be coaching, commentating or right back here in San Diego relaxing. To that we would say Welcome Home LT!
