Ravens at Chargers ~ Watch the Stats

If 2,000 tickets are sold by 1pm today, and I think they will be due to the Snapdragon marketing campaign, here are some things to watch for while watching the game.

For the third time in franchise history (1981, 2008), the Chargers may have a  4,000-yard passer, a 1,000-yard rusher and a 1,000-yard receiver.

Rivers is currently at 3,745 passing yards, Mathews has 943 rushing yards and VJax is fast approaching 1,000 at 952 receiving yards.

Rivers can become the third quarterback in NFL history with four consecutive 4,000-yard seasons.  That will put him in the record books with two of my favorites, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees.

Mathews can be the 10th Chargers running back ever to top 1,000 rushing yards in a season and the first since 2008.

Gates can also become the most prolific receiver in team history.  He needs five catches to overtake Charlie Joiner, who just happens to be one of his coaches.  Gates enters Sunday with 582 career receptions to Joiner’s 586.  While looking for that record, Gates needs two touchdowns to extend his NFL record streak of eight scores in seven consecutive seasons.

So, win or lose it will be an exciting game to watch.  With these records in mind I would expect Rivers to be airing it out and Gates, Mathews and VJax to have excellent days.  This is the week to start all of your Chargers in FF my friends.
