Sorry the dump wasn’t here the last couple of days.. I have been fighting off this cold and snot is just running down my nose all day long. It might as well pee down my leg like Nick Novak

By now we all know — and many of you out there pray it is so — that the chances of Norv Turner returning as Chargers head coach are similar to those of Hosni Mubarak regaining power in Egypt. Cheer up. Without officially being fired, Turner has been fired.

On Sunday, November 27, 2011, I went to my second NFL game since watching the Los Angeles Rams beat the 49ers at the L.A. Coliseum while the earth was cooling. As a university sport socio-culturalist but not a regular fan, I was schlepping as a “runner” for a friend of mine, the grizzled and talented Steven J. Skinner. Stevo, for his part, an NFL Films videographer, is just another surf bum from my hood who happens to know and respect and document the game at uber-pro levels. Within the professional sport media, he is a kind of go-to guy when people need something done now and done well. I had picked a good sport media mentor.

Nov 29, 2011 – The Denver Broncos are now one game out of first place Oakland after another comeback win against a division foe on the road, this time a 16-13 win over San Diego in overtime. The Chargers, once first place in the AFC West, are now tied for last place with Kansas City, who lost 13-9 to Pittsburgh on Sunday night.

— Have picked up two strong, separate rumors, one on the West Coast and the other on the East Coast that Bill Cowher could be the next coach of the San Diego Chargers. It has everything he wants: A team with talent, a quality quarterback and an owner who will allow him to bring in his own management people. A bonus: His eldest daughter, now married, lives in Los Angeles. Of course, San Diego GM A.J. Smith will have to go and someone Cowher knows would take over that job. Cowher loved quarterback Philip Rivers before the 2004 draft and there the Steelers might have drafted him instead of Ben Roethlisberer if he were not picked before them.
