Turners Eight Game Season
The Chargers had post-practice media session yesterday and Norv Turner once again denied that there is anything wrong with Rivers. Saying that each of Philips interceptions has a different reason and “we gotta find a way to finish and close out a game”. Seems to me like Norv and his staff get paid a lot of money to be experts on the game of football and should not be trying to “find a way” to close out a game. It’s what they were expected to know when they were hired and it’s pretty obvious to anyone who watches the game what they are doing wrong. Why do they not see it?
Now his new plan is to pep talk the players into believing that the first eight games where practically everyone didn’t do the job right didn’t matter. IT MATTERS. In the interview both Rivers and Weddle talked about the eight game season and looking forward. I am shaking my head in disbelief. What is that old quote? Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it. I think Norv’s approach to a team pep talk is not to worry, because everyone else has the same record. I am so tired of his pop warner approach to pep talks. You need to remind the coaches, players and even the kid filling up the cups with Gatorade that if the team does not win their job is on the line.
Bottom line – Do not repeat your mistakes. Period. Turner does not look to the past to make the future better he just wants to forget it. If I hear the team talk about getting over a loss and looking forward to the next game one more time I will vomit. Again.
