According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Antonio Gates will not be playing on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. Gates has been bothered with foot problems since last season and he was not able to participate in practice this week. He attempted to practice on Friday.

With Gates out, Kory Sperry and Randy McMichael will be asked to step up. Malcom Floyd will also likely be out for the game. The team will have a patchwork group of receivers out there for Philip Rivers. All the injuries resemble the problems we had last year.

Hopefully the rest will help Gates get back to his All-Pro form. He was blanked last week by the New England Patriots. We will need his presence in our lineup later in the season.
