Chargers Beat Vikings! Tolbert With a Hat Trick!

Chargers 24 – Vikings 17
The San Diego Chargers came out of the gates flat, but they stepped up in the second half to pull out the victory. The Chargers opened up the game by allowing a kickoff return for a touchdown to Percy Harvin. The special teams reminded us of the awful plays we gave up last season. It had us nervous and we lost our kicker Nate Kaeding for the rest of the game.
That would become a factor for the rest of the game. There were a number of times where the Chrgers were driving and had to change their plans on fourth down. Mike Scifres stepped in for Kaeding as the emergency kicker and played HUGE! He hit all his extra points and did a pretty good job on kickoffs to boom them into the end zone. He even hit a 40-yard field goal to tie the game at 17.
The Vikings had a couple of long drives in the game, but our defense did s good job of slowing them down. The defense slowed down Adrian Peterson and forced Donovan McNabb to try and beat them. McNabb just could not get the ball out to his receivers to make plays. The additions of Takeo Spikes and Bob Sanders on the defense was easily recognized as both helped out n the run defense.
The offense was led by Mike Tolbert and his battering ram style. Tolbert scored all 3 of the team’s touchdowns, catching a couple and running one in. The offense did just enough to pull out the victory and sets up an epic battle next week against the New England Patriots.
