A Closer Look At The Undrafted Wide Receivers Added

It’s clear to see that the Chargers have one of the highest octane passing offenses in the game today. With the departure of Buster Davis, Rivers and the Bolts will be looking to add depth to an already brilliant receiving corp including a fired up Vincent Jackson, Malcom Floyd, stand out Rookie Vincent Brown, and the arguably the leagues best pass catching tight end in Antonio Gates. The Chargers brought in a handful of Undrafted Free Agent Wide Receivers to compete for roster spots this season.
Cameron Kenney – OKLAHOMA – 6’1″, 199 LBS
Adrian Cannon – MARYLAND – 6’2″, 210 LBS
Vidal Hazelton – USC/CINCINNATI – 6’3″, 213 LBS
Giovanni Stanley – WHITTIER – 6’2″, 219 LBS
Travon Patterson – COLORADO – 5’9″ 170 LBSMy first instinct on Patterson was “WHAT?” Since when do the Chargers pick up receivers in such small form? Could it be that the Bolts are attempting to catch onto the trend of Percy Harvin and DeSean Jackson? Only time will tell.
My prediction: Travon Patterson and Cameron Kenney make the cuts. Cameron Kenney is a big time playmaker with great hands and a solid college career behind him. Given that college stats do not necessarily make for a successful NFL career, he possesses the raw materials to make it happen. Patterson is a speedster and shifty guy to keep your eyes on. He could potentially be a game changer if fully developed and utilized. Could you imagine that receiving depth chart when they are added to Vjax, V.Brown, Floyd, Gates, Ajirotutu, Bryan Walters, Goodman, and Crayton?
