First injury of camp, but it happened early and it will give Antoine Cason some time to recover. According to Kevin Acee, he will have surgery on Monday and there is no timetable on his return. In the meantime, the rookies like Shareece Wright and Marcus Gilchrist will get some extended amount of playing time to gain valuable experience. Brandon Hughes will probably step up as the starting corner with Cason down for a little bit.

With Cason also down, this will give some people the opportunity to show their skills in the return game. Patrick Crayton has experience returning kicks and Marcus Gilchrist did it in college as well.

At least Cason didn’t hurt his legs and it was just his fingers. As a corner you need to knock the ball down and it is not that important for you to catch the ball like a receiver. We will still be mad if it bounces off your hands (Eric Weddle), but we will let things slide (a little) for broken fingers.
