San Diego Chargers general manager A.J. Smith often says for a team to be successful, it has to be lucky, good and injury-free. But San Diego was none of those in 2010. After using 74 different players in games throughout the year, the Chargers failed to win the AFC West for the first time in five seasons.

English, who two years ago was the first NIU player ever taken in the first round of the draft by the San Diego Chargers, had asked both Spann and Cox to help with the camp back in February. They were joined by 18 current Huskies.

Redevelopment dollars have been targeted to help pay for two downtown megaprojects: an expanded Convention Center and a new Chargers stadium.
