Who is the Best Chargers Player? Gates or Rivers?

The NFL Network has been running their top 100 players of the NFL of 2011 and they are now to the players ranked between 30 and 20. We find both San Diego Chargers players Philip Rivers and Antonio Gates on the list with Rivers ranking in at 26 and Antonio Gates as number 22.
For the 2011 season, they definitely have this ranking wrong! Antonio Gates was only able to survive for 10 games on the season. He was about to have his best season EVER, but he was not able to finish the season out. He is one of the best players in the league, but should not be considered better than Philip last year.
As long as Philip Rivers is on the team, our “window of opportunity” to win a championship will always be open. He was able to put up great numbers with receivers like Seyi Ajirotutu and Patrick Crayton in the starting lineup. This is nothing against those receivers, but they are not exactly the cream of the crop for that position.
Rivers is the face of the franchise and should be considered the best player on the team. He runs the ship and makes all the throws. The upcoming season with Vincent Jackson back for a whole season and a healthy Antonio Gates will make Philip Rivers even better.
Either way, having both players on the team make our offense a powerhouse. What are your thoughts? Who should be ranked higher? Rivers or Gate?
