Tedy Bruschi decided to chime in on the Hall of Fame OR Super Bowl Champion debate. Wonder what the non-Hall of Fame, Super Bowl Champion feels is more valuable? Here is what Bruschi’s thoughts from SportsCenter yesterday:

Bruschi explained that induction into the Hall of Fame is determined not on any field but by 44 voters. “A Super Bowl, a championship is something you earn,” Bruschi said. “And it’s something that can never be taken away. And no one can stop you from doing that.”

As to the inherently subjective process of picking the best of the best players for immortality, Bruschi says, “You can’t control that, but you can control winning.” – Pro Football Talk

Now comes the question: Would you rather have the career of Tedi Bruschi or of Ladainian Tomlinson?

Winning a championship is the goal of any team sport. As a Chargers fan, I would rather have championships then a bunch of ringless Hall of Fame players. I love having Hall of Fame players on the team and the memories that they leave, but it is all about the championship in the end!

It is the single argument that Oakland Raiders fans keep going to and it is the argument that Chargers fans really can’t combat.

I understand what Ladainian Tomlinson said. The Hall of Fame is the best of the best, the cream of the crop. The guy from Around the Horn said it best, “Having a ring but no HOF? It’s like saying Dan Marino should aspire to be Trent Dilfer.” LT wants that Hall of Fame, but it doesn’t mean that he didn’t want that Super Bowl ring. That is just not an option for him anymore.

As Chargers fans, we want that ring!
