The entire training camp has been filed with high praise for the second-year receiver out of SDSU, Vincent Brown.

Having the benefit of a full off-season, Vincent Brown says “Now I can focus on making plays.”

Last year around this time the rookie receiver was focusing on learning the San Diego offense, which is still giving the newly acquired Robert Meachem some trouble.

While I am sure Meachem will figure it all out. I am not too sure that Vincent Brown is not the best receiver on this squad, while Meachem struggles. And I stress the word receiver, that means not including the “skinny” Antonio Gates.

Malcom Floyd hasn’t been able to run away with the number one receiver job with V-Jax gone, and in all honesty, he probably won’t. Floyd makes big plays, can catch, but isn’t dependable. Floyd is a very vital piece to the puzzle, but our best? Not too sure.

There are a lot things that separates Brown from the others in the receiving core, he runs crisp routes, makes big plays and the kid has some great hands. He’s very precise, and reminds me a lot of Brandon Lloyd. Just a great fundamental football player.

All that being said there isn’t a clear cut number one receiver coming into the second week of the pre-season. Vincent Brown could end up being the number one receiver. With a big regular season, Brownie could cement himself as our best receiver.
