When Tim Tebow first came into the NFL and was drafted by the Denver Broncos, playing for one of our division rivals, my thoughts and feelings of course as normal human behavior would dictate, were to instantly hold a grudge against him. Not in a personal way but in a competitive, sporting way.

You know what I mean.

Having said that, I started hearing more and more what Tebow was all about and how devoted to the Christian faith he is. Being a Christian myself I thought even though he’s plays for a rival team, how could I possibly hold something against a Christian Brother?

The more I learned about Tebow, the less of a grudge I held….to a certain extent. He still played for a rival team and being the devout Bolt fan that I am, I’m gonna root against him any time we played against him.

March, 2012.

Tebow is traded to the NY Jets. My grudge has lessened. He’s not in the division anymore. Even though he’s out of the division, he plays for another team I despise. Not only that, we play them in December. My competitive grudge still holds….a little.

Moving on.

June 17th, 2012. Father’s Day. Since it was sponsored by the church I am currently a member of, I attended the Tim Tebow event at Qualcomm Stadium.

As I sat there and listened to Tim speak, you can’t help but like this man.
He is very grounded in his Christian faith and just plain down to earth. He had some interesting and funny things to say as well as some very profound statements as well.

He talked about how the verse John 3:16 came about, the act of Tebowing and his faith in general.

Did you know that in the Broncos/Steelers playoff game he threw for 316 yards, his average yards per completion was 31.6, when he threw the winning touchdown in OT there was 3 minutes and 16 seconds on the clock and in the final quarter of that game, tv ratings were at 31.6. Is that just an eerie coincidence or is there something more to it? Does it really matter? It’s all in what you want to believe. I personally like to believe there is divine influence at work here.

Tebow says he’s not a football player that happens to be a Christian, he’s a Christian that happens to play football.

After everything is all said and done, I have to say, I like Tim Tebow, no matter who he plays for.

Here are some of the pictures of the event.

By the way, the first picture is of ESPN’s Chris Mortensen on the left and Pastor David Jeremiah on the right.
