I encourage everybody to post their favorite LaDainian Tomlinson memories un the comments section of this post. What I did was go mulling through the NFL record books for some of L.T.’s accomplishments. He has left a huge mark on this city and this league that will not soon be forgotten.

After hitting the books and scrolling through stats for each of his nine seasons in San Diego, and the NFL, I found some pretty groundbreaking stuff. Some things you may remember, some records you may not, and some that have not (yet) come to pass.

Here’s to you, L.T. Your historic career is not over yet.

L.T. By The Numbers

Rushing

Rushing Attempts- 2,880

Rushing Yards- 12,490

Rushing Touchdowns- 138

Receiving

Receptions- 530

Receiving Yards- 3,995

Receiving Touchdowns- 15

Tomlinson, throughout his career as a Charger, also has a 146.9 career passer rating. He has thrown for eight completions in twelve attempts and seven touchdowns.

LaDainian also holds several NFL rushing records. Such as:

Most consecutive games with a rushing touchdown. (18)

Most touchdowns in a single season. (28)

He has even lead the league in rushing for three of his ten seasons. Another important record to talk about is one that he has not gotten yet, but he could get there. I am talking about Emmit Smith‘s career rushing TD record of 164 touchdowns. As of 2009, Tomlinson has 138. Next closest, I believe, is Marcus Allen. Formerly of the Los Angeles Raiders (1982-1992) and the Kansas City Chiefs. (1993-1997)

I don’t know about you guy’s, but that’s pretty huge to me. Especially since Marcus Allen played for 15 seasons and L.T. will be entering his 10th.

He is not done yet, folks. Look for him to chase that ring he has always wanted.

It makes me happy that he is joining a playoff contender and one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. I look forward to watching the rest of his career.

On another good note, L.T. will be wearing the same jersey number that he always has. He deserves it, even though a couple of his new team mates who had ties to that number may have been a little upset. Who cares? He’s a legend. It’s hard to say no to a legend, folks.

Good luck, L.T. Go get your ring.
