Mandatory Credit: Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

It sounds like football in Los Angeles won’t be happening in 2013. That means the Chargers will stay in San Diego for at least one more season. Here is the info from Peter King’s Monday Morning Quarterback:

That’s the upshot of momentum-less franchise movement talks among the shaky teams — the Raiders and Chargers, most notably — as the new year approaches. In June, commissioner Roger Goodell laid out a scenario whereby a team would be allowed to move to Los Angeles, and a source at the league meetings in Dallas last week told me none of the tenuous teams are close to meeting the requisites. A team wanting to move would have to demonstrate these three conditions:

1. A team has to establish market failure where it now plays.

2. A new stadium deal would have to be in place in Los Angeles with the moving franchise. Four sites — downtown, Chavez Ravine, Carson or City of Industry — are possible landing spots for a relocated franchise.

3. An interim stadium deal — at the Rose Bowl or Coliseum — would have to be in place for the 2013 season and beyond.

As of Thursday, I’m told no team had satisfied any of the three conditions, and none is in serious discussions for a temporary place to play while a new stadium is built. Though the window for satisfying all three conditions is open until Feb. 15, progress has been nil, and it’s now impossible that a team could get all three things done in the next eight weeks. That means we won’t see a resolution on a new team for Los Angeles until early 2014, at the earliest.

The Chargers have been on a downhill slide and have abandoned their fan base by keeping Norv Turner in town. Now the fans want AJ Smith out of town and some crazy fans have already said that the team should just move out of town. Dean Spanos has to satisfy some of the locals this offseason by dumping out some of the trash and restore some of the faith in town. At least the team will be sticking around for a little while longer.

The story of the Chargers moving up north to Los Angeles just will not end. The Los Angeles Times release an article yesterday stating that the Chargers could be moving to Los Angeles as early as 2012. The world is supposed to end in 2012 anyway, right?!

The article states that the Chargers would move to the LA Coliseum first and then eventually move into the newly built stadium when it is completed. There is still a lot of work that needs to be done before we can start expecting this, but all the talk about this just seems to be preparing us for the departure of our favorite football team.

Check out the TJ Simers article and tell me that he doesn’t make some very valid points.

Yesterday, details came out on a proposal for the LA Football stadium that they want to build. Today, reports are coming out that majority San Diego Chargers owner, Alex Spanos is looking to sell a minority stake to the team.

AEG, which owns the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, the MLS’ Los Angeles Galaxy and has a non-controlling stake in the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers, has issued a proposal to design a $725 million stadium in downtown Los Angeles featuring a retractable roof and 40 field-level suites among its 218 luxury boxes. AEG would not build the stadium without a commitment from an NFL team to move.

Ed Roski Jr. was a partner of AEG in building Staples and has a minority stake in the Lakers and Kings, and he submitted a LA stadium proposal to be built in Industry. His company Majestic Realty wants to build a stadium into a hillside he controls in the San Gabriel Valley. Roski would like to have a 30% share to any team that moves to Los Angeles and part ownership of the Chargers looks like it is available.

So where does that leave us?

As a San Diego sports fan, it would pain me to see our NFL team move into a city in which I love to hate. I hate the Los Angeles Dodgers fans and hated the Raiders fans when they were in Los Angeles (still hate them). A lot of us rock the Lakers or the Clippers jerseys, just because we have no other choice. I won’t speak for them, because I still hate the Lake Show, it is just something that a San Diego fan has been bred to do.

We want a championship for OUR city!!! We want a team to represent San Diego, America’s Finest City, not the city to the North of us with all their smog and crazy traffic. We want the Super Bowl to come out here and show people around the world what OUR city is about!

Hey Roski and AEG, take your shopping cart somewhere else and go pick up a different franchise. Take over the Raiders or the Jaguars and stay away from our Chargers! I would rather beat the team that you bring to Los Angeles and pump my San Diego pride over you! I do not want to be forced to cheer for a Los Angeles team!

SAN DIEGO stand up and get this stadium built here!!! Otherwise, we will just be sitting without an NFL franchise. Cities like Kansas City, Buffalo and North Carolina even have an NFL franchise! If we build it, they will stay! Let’s get it DONE!

Would you all just be a Los Angeles Chargers fan?? If not, what team would you follow?
Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.
