I can’t make this stuff up!!!!

Former San Diego Chargers S Kevin Ellison jumped out of his 3rd floor apartment building after he set his bed on fire with a marijuana blunt (The Spokesman-Review). He told the authorities that God had told him to set his bed on fire, but I have a feeling that it was the weed that was talking to him!

Drugs are BAD… mmkay!

Ellison played for the Chargers in 2009 and started 9 games as a rookie. In that off-season, he was arrested for drug possession after being caught by police with 100 pills of Vicodin. He was released soon after that. Ellison has been playing arena football with the Spokane Shock.

With every Chargers or Padres fan buzzing about the recent drug scandal, a timely statement of denial was to be expected. This is a statement from the San Diego Chargers on the recent administrative inspection by the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The San Diego Chargers were made aware today of an administrative inspection by the Drug Enforcement Administration and have cooperated fully.

In regards to the ongoing investigation involving Kevin Ellison, the Vicodin in Kevin’s possession was not provided by the Chargers, its physicians or anyone affiliated with the team.

Quick, and to the point. As well as vague and unenlightening. It’s not like Ellison is saying anything either. He has declined to make any comments on the matter since he signed with Seattle post-ejection from the Chargers roster.

However, doesn’t it seem that with the Chargers denying all involvement, evidence collected from Ellison will either incriminate, or exonerate, the Chargers and their associates. At the moment, both sides are remaining quiet and seeing what evidence the D.E.A. comes up with.

This will either turn out to be a conspiracy similar to what the New Orleans Saints went through, or it will be over quickly and we will see what action is taken against Ellison.

According to 10news.com, the federal Drug Enforcement Agency of both the San Diego Chargers as well as the Padres team facilities.

According to 10 News, a D.E.A. representative said:

The administrative inspection warrants were executed in an attempt to verify the correctness of controlled substance inventories, records, reports and other documents required to be kept under the Controlled Substances Act and for the purpose of protecting the public health and safety.

No arguments there. After what happened with the New Orleans Saints earlier in the off-season in combination with recently jettisoned safety Kevin Ellison being caught with 100 vicodin pills in his car after being pulled over for speeding through a school zone, you can’t argue with the feds being suspicious of teams.

The representative continued:

As a registered individual (“registrant”) with the Drug Enforcement Administration, these physician and pharmacies are required to keep complete and accurate records of all controlled substances received, prescribed, dispensed, purchased, delivered or otherwise disposed of, pursuant to 21 U.S.C. § 827 and 21 C.F.R. Parts 1304 et seq.

Again, Ellison did NOT have a valid prescription, and I am not surprised that having that many pills on him caused a red flag.

The representative added one more thing:

The physicians under review are affiliated with the San Diego Chargers and San Diego Padres organizations.

Supposedly, agents are trying to focus on finding out what was dispensed and to whom.

On a brighter note, the D.E.A. also said, according to 10 news, that:

the investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed, no arrests have been made and no indictments are pending.

I can’t tell you names yet, but I can tell you that Ellison is now with the Seahawks after being cut from the Chargers a few weeks ago, and that he declines to comment on the matter.

I would too.
