The Indianapolis Colts (and Jimmy Raye is probably giggling in his seat all over this while holding up the bird to his former bosses) have signed former San Diego Chargers NT Aubrayo Franklin. THIS SUCKS!

Franklin was a big part of the run defense last season. He clogged up blockers and allowed the middle linebackers, Takeo Spikes and Donald Butler, to make plays in the run game. Franklin was a big part of the defense.

Now we have to find someone new to clog the middle of the defense. Cam Thomas is going to get more playing time and could be the starter, but there needs to be some added depth there. Former Baltimore Ravens NT Ma’ake Kemoeatu has been mentioned as a possible replacement, but that signing remains to be seen.

We already released Antonio Garay and he could have taken some snaps in the middle. He wasn’t going to be a starter, but he was able to give some guys a breath here and there.

Another hole in the ground that needs to be filled. We like holes!

The San Diego Chargers biggest need this offseason is offensive linemen. We need all the biggest and baddest offensive linemen we can get to line up in front of Philip Rivers. One of our own guys, Louis Vasquez, is a free agent and it looks like he wants to test the free agent market.

Here is what his agent to the Indianapolis Star:

“The interest is genuine,” Sheets said. “At the same time, I have a client who wants to test the market. The Chargers had a chance to get something done last November. Now, Lou wants to explore every option.”

First off, it bugs the crap out of me that he is talking to the Indianapolis Star. There is obvious interest from the Indianapolis Colts and they will be making a run at the free agent.

When Sheets was asked if the Colts have contacted him, he responded:

“Do I expect to hear from them (Saturday)?” he asked. “Definitely.”

I am getting a bad feeling on this… or maybe it is gas.

Also, the Chargers could have got something done in November?!?!. NOVEMBER?!! Can someone tell the agent that AJ Smith is gone! Tom Telesco is in town and there is a new regime. Maybe he should talk to them.

The Indianapolis Colts hired Jimmy Raye away from the San Diego Chargers and now Raye could be trying to convince his new team to sign Chargers OG Louis Vasquez (UT SANDIEGO).

The Chargers plan on hitting the market hard for offensive linemen. If Vazquez finds good money with the Colts, then the Chargers will just have another hole that they will try to fill.

The Chargers can jump into free agency or throw a bunch of rookies from the draft. There will definitely have to be a “WELCOME THE NEW PEOPLE” party for all the new members of the offensive line next season.

The draft has a ton of talent all over it. They may need to make some trades to pick up a few picks in order to fill all the holes on the line. The Chargers could also go after one of the free agent linemen like Branden Albert or Andy Levitre.

Levitre seems like a possibility since we just brought over his offensive line coach over to the left coast.

That new offensive line will have all our eyes staring in their direction. Those big butts better get it done.
