Florida SS Matt Elam continues to impress and is distancing his way out of reach of the San Diego Chargers 2nd round draft pick. Elam put up some good numbers at the NFL Combine, posting a 4.46-second time in the 40-yard dash. That is an awesome time for a prospect that likes to smack you in the mouth. He looked smooth in the position specific drills and agility drills. He also put up 17 reps at the bench.

Elam is one of my favorite prospects for the San Diego Chargers. If he keeps impressing scouts and general managers, we might not get a shot at him with the 45th pick in the draft. It probably was a long shot anyway.

I have been waiting for the team to get that Rodney Harrison-type safety onto our roster and Elam looks like the perfect fit. Elam and Eric Weddle would be a dream in that secondary. If Elam is unavailable, I guess we can look back at possible o-line prospects or corner prospects.

Washington CB Desmond Trufant blew away the 40-yard dash this morning at the NFL combibe. He timed in at 4.31 seconds. That boy is FAST!

Trufant was projected to be a late first round selection in the draft, but combining his 4.31 second time with his size is a sweet combination. Look for Trufant to climb up draft boards, possibly pushing for a top 10 selection. I don’t mind seeing more players challenge for top 10 draft spots.

Keep pushing some of that other talent with the big butts down to pick number 11.
